The Spine Stealers are a Wisconsin-based folk band influenced by the northwood pines, 24/7 truck stop diners, heartbreak and dark lakes. The duo formed around late night bonfires in their shared hometown during the height of the pandemic where they learned guitar together and wrote songs inspired by their experiences of heartache and nostalgia.

Starting with open mics in the summer of 2022, the duo had their first show in July 0f 2022 at the Bur Oak in Madison, WI. In January 2023, The Spine Stealers opened up for Dead Horses at Madison’s Majestic Theater for Folk Fest 2023. On A high, they hunkered into what would be a long winter of channeling the shadow side that the cold months bring into writing and recording songs. In February they submitted their original, “Coal” to the Blue Ox Music Festival Virtual Competition and won, earning them a slot on the lineup. In June of 2023, The Spine Stealers made their Festival debut at Blue Ox Music Festival In Eau Claire, WI. Throughout 2022-2023 they started recording their EP entitled River Teeth Tapes, released in July of 2023. The wild ride of summer continued with playing at Boogiedown Festival at the Driftless Music Gardens, Larryfest in Kickapoo Valley, WI, two tour runs with the Minneapolis-based band, Friend Dog, an Artist In Residency at Weary Traveler Freehouse in Madison, WI, a live recording session played at 89.9 FM WORT studio in Madison, WI all while soaking up a busy time of shows throughout the Midwest.
